Recycling Market Slumps - Affects Local Programs

21-Jan-2016

Due to an unfortunate slump in the recycling market, many of our current programs must be put on hold pending a positive change. Below is a list of the commodities that will no longer be accepted free-of-charge at our Burney Transfer Station. We hope to reinstate these programs in the future and will be monitoring the market daily in hopes of an uptick. Please call our office at 530-335-2723 or check back at our website or Facebook page for updates.

Waste Oil: Customers with waste oil will now be charged 20 cents per gallon.

Antifreeze: No longer accepted.

Cardboard: Will now be charged at the standard charge for municipal solid waste (regular trash).

Appliances: Customers will now be charged $5 per appliance.

We will still be accepting scrap iron, vehicle batteries and some e-waste free of charge as well as Paint Care products. Click here for a detailed list of recyclable items and other local recycling resources.
