Winter Weather Policy In Effect For Big Bend and Day Road Customers

Attention Day Road and Big Bend Customers:

THE FOLLOWING POLICY WILL BE INCLUDED  WITH YOUR  BILLING STATEMENT FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER:

The cold winter months are upon us and icy mountain roads are in our near future. We want to take a moment to reach out to our customers to explain a bit about our service equipment, our winter-weather policy and our commitment to your safety and the safety of our employees.

As you know, rural roads can be hazardous in the best of weather and road conditions are only made worse by snow and ice. Burney Disposal is committed to the safety of you and your community members and to the well being of our drivers.

Our garbage trucks weigh approximately 30,000 lbs. and are extremely top-heavy. In treacherous road conditions, our trucks could become stuck causing road congestion or damage. Also, in icy conditions, our trucks may slide or tip which produces a potentially life-threatening hazard for motorists, pedestrians and our drivers.

Because we care about our customers and their neighbors as well as our employees, we have adopted a winter-weather policy to protect all of us while maintaining the level of excellent service that our customers have come to expect.

To better understand our winter service guidelines and eliminate as much confusion as possible, please be aware of the following winter-weather policy.

Winter-Weather Policy

1.      Your drivers will start at 9 a.m. should conditions appear snowy or icy. The later start time will allow road maintenance crews to clear the way for the trucks.

2.      Should our drivers still deem the road unsafe, they will immediately notify our office. If you want an update about a possible delay, you may reach the office at 530-335-2723. You may also call toll-free at 877-335-2723 for more information. We are open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3.      If you experience a service delay because of road conditions in your area, we will issue you a snow credit for any pick-ups missed as well as pick up the equivalent of 2 weeks trash the next week at no additional charge. In this way, we hope to compensate you for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of the service delay.

As always, we will strive to provide our more rural customers with uninterrupted weekly service. However, we will also continue our commitment to the safety of you and your neighbors as well as our drivers when inclement weather hits the Intermountian Area.
