Yellow Tag Program

*Note: Below information is for North Eastern Shasta Co. customers only. Tag service is not currently available to our Mt. Shasta customers.

Yellow Tags are $6.65 each. You will need one tag per can. The tags you purchase will replace automatic weekly pickups and monthly billings. This service will save you money only if you have UP TO three 32-gallon cans or the equivalent per month and replaces regularly scheduled weekly pickup service.

The Yellow Tag collection program is an as-needed service, which means you will only put out your trash on your scheduled pickup day when you want us to pick it up for you.

You may purchase Yellow Tags in any amount you wish by stopping by the office at 37484B Cornaz Drive in Burney. If it is inconvenient for you to visit our office, you may also order tags over the phone with a credit card by calling us at 530-335-2723. You may also send in a check order and we will happily mail your tags directly to your home. Tags can also be purchased at Do-It-Best Hardware in Fall River Mills and the Pit Stop Store in Big Bend.

If you choose to participate in this program, there are a few easy guidelines that must be followed to insure that your trash is picked up when you want it to be.

  1. Use only one tag for each 32-gallon can or the equivalent. For example, if you have two 32-gallon cans or bags to be picked up, you will need two tags.
  2. Be sure the cans or bags weigh no more than 40 pounds EACH because our pickups are not yet automated and our drivers must lift containers manually.
  3. Put your trash out the night before your pick-up day. Contact our office if you need information about your area’s pick-up schedule.
  4. Always line your cans and tightly bag any kitty litter, doggie poop, diapers, fireplace ashes, vacuum cleaner contents and disposable bed sheets. This is especially important if you do not plan to have these items picked up within 24 hours of disposing of them.
  5. Attach a tag to the outside of each container and be sure it is visible from the street.
  6. If you are new to the Yellow Tag collection program, please call our office the day before you set out your trash so we can tell our drivers to keep a lookout for your items.
  7. If at any time you set out Yellow-Tag trash and it is not picked up, please call our office right away so we can remedy the situation. In most cases, the driver can return the next day to pick up your items. You are also welcome to bring your tagged trash to either of our transfer stations during normal operating hours and we will dispose of your items at no additional charge.
